Appropriate Paper-based Technology

In L'Arche Kenya we use Appropriate Paper-based Technology (APT) to convert cartons into disability rehabilitation assistive devices e.g.a carton chair or standing frame.
The products are light to carry, affordable, easy to make, safe to use and maintain which makes them appropriate for children with developmental issues and other conditions like cerebral palsy. Users are able to attain head control, trunk control, use of upper and lower limbs, concentration and interaction with other children in play. Caregivers can easily move them from one place to another.

A Gardening Birthday

n January, we officially celebrated Effatha Home's 13th Birthday as we welcomed our core members back to work.
We used the opportunity to officially open our Urban Vertical Garden where we have planted over 4,032 seedlings of various vegetables. This is one of the projects that have been enabled by the Stretching Our Limits - Up Mt. Kenya by Wheelchair Campaign in 2019

From Kenya to New Zealand, Slovenia to Syria,France to Canada,we connected,enjoyed learning art from around the world and made origami from Japan, drew flowers from Ukraine and day of the dead skulls from Mexico.We sang, danced, prayed, and shared stories virtually, in diverse languages, to celebrate our L'Arche family!
